I just returned from a great trip to Oman. It was my very first time touring the country, and I got very thrilled! Before leaving, I found myself clicking on endless stunning photos of the nation, saving locations. Wondering if it would seem as beautiful as the pictures.

Is it worth visiting Oman

Yes, 100%. That was easy. Next question?

Oman has several things to boast about, but its major selling point is the possibility of seeing so many different landscapes in just a few days. I was on the beach one day, in the dunes the next, and in the mountains at 2000 meters. There’s also enough to learn about culture and history. From old fortresses and stunning mosques to bustling souks.

If you have never been to the Middle East previously. Oman offers one of the best exposure to its culture, environment, and landscapes. The inhabitants are also quite kind, and many speak English. Making it considerably easier to navigate than some of its neighbors.

How to Get to Oman

Oman Air took me from London to Muscat. The carrier flies non-stop departures from London Heathrow to Muscat two times per day. More than seven hours were spent on the flight. If you reserve a seat, you can find return flights for as little as £320.

From Muscat Air Terminal, I recommend leasing a vehicle (erring on that later) or employing a touring administrator. Everything relies upon what you might want to see and do. Although there are some dangerous off-road excursions. Like at Wadi Bani Awf, where I was glad we put ourselves in the expert hands of Ahmed from Desert Camels Experience Trips.

Best Time to Visit Oman

Oman enjoys a warm climate all year round. Summers can be hot, so unless you enjoy temperatures of 40 degrees or higher. I suggest steering clear of June, July, and August.

The ideal season for touring Oman is between October and April. It’s still wonderful and warm, but the temps are much more manageable, topping at 30 degrees. I visited in November and thought it was ideal. The weather was nice and sunny during the day. Temperatures in Muscat hovered about 28 degrees. But temperatures in the mountains (at elevations of 2000 meters) dipped as low as 8 degrees at night.

Top Things to Do in Oman

Oman is an ideal destination for adventurers and cultural enthusiasts. Here are my must-dos. From deserts and beaches to wadis and spectacular mountains, you’ll want to fit a lot in!

Visit A Wadi in Oman

A wadi is a valley or canyon cut through majestic mountains by a dried-up river. Some are supplied by natural springs, resulting in stunning emerald-green rock pools surrounded by palm trees. There are also some lovely wadis in Oman with waterfalls pouring through the countryside. Because the country is so arid, they’re usually a surprise sight – sort of a desert oasis!
